Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd employees are committed to:

Achieving the highest possible standard of workplace health and safety in all of its operations so as to ensure the health and safety of everyone that works for the Company, including contractors, visitors and the public.
Establishing measurable objectives and targets and ensuring continual improvement aimed at preventing work related injury or illness.
Communicating Company health and safety policy and procedures to all employees and others involved in its workplace.
Investigating all incidents to the level required in the Company workplace health and safety management system.

Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd accepts its responsibility to provide the support and direction to achieve this commitment and will maintain a comprehensive health and safety management system developed and implemented with employee involvement and with assigned appropriate responsibility and accountability at all levels within the company so that the health and safety system operates effectively. The necessary resources to train personnel will be allocated to allow this development to occur.
At Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd, workplace health and safety is an integral part of all operations. It is the responsibility of all levels of management and employees to demonstrate this at all times through active participation in all their activities. No employee is or will be required to carry out any task that they reasonably consider being unsafe. The need for Safe Work Procedures will continue to be identified and such documents will be developed, implemented and their use monitored.

Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd and all of its employees will at all times work to continually improve and achieve best practice in health and safety using the NSCA 5 Star Health and Safety Management System and any other available tools that effectively contribute to the Company’s Workplace health and safety performance. The minimum health and safety standard at Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd will be compliance with the Queensland Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995 and Subordinate legislation.

Bundaberg Walkers Engineering Ltd will encourage and assist employees to maintain good personal health and safety both at work and away from work and in the practical provision of rehabilitation programs and employee health services.

Our Proactive Approach
Our formal and proactive safety program is actively managed by a trained and dedicated staff and is best summarized in four words: Communication, Training, Motivation and Monitoring. These points are reinforced in the following ways:
- Bundaberg Walkers detailed Safety Guidelines are continually updated and are provided to all Bundaberg Walkers employees. These guidelines are designed to eliminate injury and minimise incidents.
- A safe work environment is provided by preplanning and by minimizing or eliminating hazards. Where existing hazards cannot be eliminated, their harmful effects are minimised through environmental controls, training in safe work methods, and by providing of personal protective equipment as required.
- All Bundaberg Walkers employees are provided with ongoing training to continually develop and maintain the skills required to perform their work safely including the safe operation of equipment.
- Communications between Bundaberg Walkers employees and supervisors is an important part of our program and is used to expedite handling of suggestions for the minimising and elimination of work hazards.
- Workplace inspections are conducted regularly to identify potentially unsafe conditions and to provide immediate correction.
- Before commencing each work activity our employees have been trained to perform a hazard analysis to ensure each task assigned is performed safely.
- Our drug and alcohol testing (Fitness for Work policy) protects our employees whilst at the workplace and on construction sites.
- Each employee is trained with regard to our safety expectations via an induction process prior to each new employee commencing work.
- All new potential employees are required to under go a pre-employment medical prior to commencing at Bundaberg Walkers.
